Marc started utilizing "backing tracks" before the word "Kareoke" existed 20+ years ago starting with midi connected drum machines, sequencers and synths. Today he uses a laptop computer midi connected to a sound synth, vocal harmonizer and effect unit. All tracks are custom produced and everything is run thru racks of sound gear greater then many bar bands use. This "One-Man-Band-Geek" set up is how Marc has performed the most in his life time. Much of Marc's ability to multi task and play multiple instruments (The One Man Band) comes from working with tracks. He's learned to sing, play lead guitar, mix sound, que tracks, run a video webcast with chat (Marc ran a live webcast from tage for 3 years), take text requests and lead the controlled chaos environment of a bar, private party or stage performance while trying to address the desire of both audience and management at a venue. Marc covers about 300 songs, will play both acoustic and electric guitars and perform with and without backing tracks. Sometimes he may utilize request sheets where audience can shout out or "text request" songs. This helps avoid saying "sorry I don't know that one" on the mic. "I try and make my shows as much about the audience as I can becuase it's not about me, it's about the guests experience at the venue I am performing at. In between songs I have bag of gimmicks to interact with including song trivia, easy games and more. I try to keep my banter in the moment and steer the over all topic to "about nothing". Talking about something could lead trouble and nothing is funnier then the truth, in my humble opinion." |
